Success for more than 3 generations

With the intention to make finest wafers and ginger bread, Otto Beier, a passionate baker, founded together with his wife Irma in 1933 a small wafer and ginger bread production in Pilnikau. That was the starting point of our success story.

After 13 years Otto and his wife were forced to move and they came to Blaibach in the Bavarian Forest. Even in the same year they started production again. In order to enlarge their production area, they bought a small piece of land in Miltach, next to Blaibach.

Pioneering spirit and forward-looking actions led to a constant growth of our company. In 1990 we bought a second location for the production of foam wafers in Wilsdruff near to Dresden. One year later we took over the popular trademark "Hansematz", including sales activities.


Every year we invest in our facilities in order to modernise and enlarge our business. Since 2000 we have built 2 new manufacturing halls, an office builiding, a laboratory and storage facilities for raw materials and packaging. In total we use about 41.000 square meters and we are one of the biggest wafer manufacturers in Europe.

With our wafer products we can supply different branches: wafer cuts and crumbs are used by other companies for making fine and tasty wafers. Our edible cups and dishes are used by hotels and restaurants for serving marmelades and dips on their buffets.

Foam wafers can be bought directly in groceries and supermarkets. 


In 2008 we broadened our range of products by different kinds of bars. We invested in production facilities, laboratory and rooms for our staff.

In 2015 we enlarged our production capacities by setting up a new packaging machine. 

We are aware of our responsibility for our environmant and for future generations. Therefore we have integrated environment protection and sustainability as a main element in our business ethics.

In order to use all available energy ressources in the best possible way, we have installed a draw well and injection well system. Additonally, we operate a block heating station.


Today, our company is run in the third generation. Our  employees (approximately 200 persons, including employees in our Café Waffel) make us to one of the biggest employers in our region.


Continuity on the one hand and innovational spirit on the other hand have made us to a well-known manufacturer of private label products and foam wafers in Europe.
